2. JOSEPH FINCH was born in 1823…
His birthplace varies depending on which census you look at.
He was listed as born in Gestingthorpe, Essex (1851), Belchamp Walter, Essex (1861), Sudbury, Suffolk (1871), Hadleigh, Essex (1881 & 1891), Suffolk (1901).
All these places are near each other near the border of Essex and Suffolk. Sudbury is just across the border in Suffolk.
But the baptism was not located, so for that reason it cannot be certain if he was a son of Adam Finch.

Joseph Finch was in Hadleigh, Essex at the time his sister was baptized there in 1837. He would have been around 14 years old at the time.

In 1841, Joseph was listed as "Joseph Eves" in the household of William and Elizabeth Eves in Hadleigh, Essex (see in Part II under William and Elizabeth Eaves for the census details).

In 1851, Joseph Finch is a Lodger in the home of Charles Green in Hadleigh, Essex.
Joseph Finch was born ca. 1823 in Gestingthorpe, Essex and was an Agricultural Labourer.
Also a lodger at the same home is Joseph Wiltshire, he later married Joseph Finch's sister.
