William Higby lived in Eastwood, Essex with his parents.  It is not known when the family arrived in Eastwood.  They were there from the 1830’s or earlier.

William Higby married JANE CROOKS on July 5, 1831 at the church in St. Andrew, Holborn, London, Middlesex.

Jane was born ca. 1800 in Chelmsford, Essex.

In the late 1830’s, William and Jane Higby were living in Eastwood, Essex where their first son was born.

Then between 1838 and 1841, they moved to Hockley, Essex.

In 1841, William and Jane Higby were living in Hockley, Essex.   William Higby was a Farmer.

From the 1841 Census of Hockley, Essex, we find the following:

Philip Benton had a book of his published in 1867 called “The History of Rochford Hundred” and in the section about Hockley, Essex, he mentioned some of the cemetery stones in Hockley:

In 1861, Jane Higby and her son Charles were living in Hockley, Essex.
