Edward Murrell ( ? - ? )
~
The father of the Witch Doctor and Cunning Man James Murrell ~
~ The husband of Hannah Dockrell ~
1. EDWARD MURRELL
Edward Murrell was living in Hawkwell, Essex probably since the early 1780s.
Since there is no earlier Murrells in Hawkwell in the baptism records since the 1730s, it means that Edward Murrell came from another area.
There was a George Murrell with children being baptized in Hawkwell in the same time period as Edward Murrells family. So there is the possibility that George may have been a brother to Edward.
There were more Murrell families in nearby Hockley, Essex with similar names used for the children names in their baptisms. And it has to be checked too.
Edward Murrell married HANNAH DOCKRELL on September 30, 1783 in St. Nicholas church in Canewdon, Essex.
From the parish register of St. Nicholas church in Canewdon:

There is a website on the internet, www.dsthorne.com, where it shows that this Edward Murrell (Junior), had a family and then moved to Burnham, Essex. Then two of his sons were shoemakers in Burnham until past the 1840s.
From the internet, I also came across a newspaper article where one of Edwards son Mr. Murrell who had a dog that attacked a child and the child was badly hurt.
I will be collecting information on this branch but that will be for a future edition, right now I got to get this version out.
